Primary 2 

The teacher in Primary 2 this year is Miss Little.

It is great to see the children back from the Easter holidays and ready for an exciting last term! Below is an overview of the term ahead. For Literacy, the children will continue to learn new joined phonemes and common words. Please continue to practise reading previous taught phonemes and common words on a regular basis at home too.

Our Talk4Writng text is called ‘Monkey See- Monkey Do!’ The children will explore the plot of the story, along with the characters and setting. This is a short story with lots of humour! Then they will use their ideas to create a new text based on this. The children will be encouraged to ‘uplevel’ their sentences using a variety of connectives and interesting vocabulary.

For homework, the children will be given 1 book per week, and will have an additional book in class. For Numeracy, we will learn more about numbers beyond 100 with a focus on identifying a number pattern and sequence. The children will be introduced to the 4- and 8-times table. The children should also continue practising the 2,5- and 10-times table. We will also learn about division, volume & capacity, symmetry and position and movement.

Our topic for this term is ‘Seaside Holiday.’ The children will explore the differences between the seaside in the past and present.

Reminder- -Please make sure your child does not bring any toys to school as this can be a distraction in class and can be easily lost in the playground. Also, please make sure your child wears their full school uniform each day and items are clearly labelled.
