Meet our House and Vice Captains
At Cairns Primary every pupil belongs to a House. The four Houses are Bruce, Burns, Livingstone and Wallace. Our Houses were named after important Scottish figures who played a part in making the Scotland that we know and love to date.
Each year, the staff and pupils at Cairns must vote to elect a new House and Vice-Captain for each of the four Houses. Those candidates wishing to put themselves up for nomination must write and deliver a speech outlining why they are the best person for the job. Throughout the year, the successful candidates are required to attend a variety of school events (both in school and out in the community), meet with the pupils in their House and lead meetings, participate in House quizes and Games and lead various events such as the Summer and Christmas Services. In addition, they are responsible for leading their house to victory to win the House trophy at the end of the school year. Points are won, gathered and collected throughout the year and the winning house recieve a whole House treat. It is always a fierce competition!
In 2023, after 17 years we decided to change the names of the Houses at Cairns to reflect what was important to our pupils After a full school vote of pupils and staff, we have chosen the following as our new House names:
- Burns
- Findlay
- MacIntosh
- Wallace
In August, all candidates who wanted to be considered for House and Vice Captains gave speeches to members of the House, outlining why they were the best candidate for the job!
We are so proud of all the candidates that put themselves forward. The House and Vice Captains for session 2024/2025 are:
